Saturday, December 11, 2010

My heart is full because of the kindness of those who surround me. Friday started with lunch with one of my most favorite people. I've developed a special bond with her. You know those people you know you knew before we came here... I know she's one of those. I'm grateful for her love, kindness and senese of humor. Thank you Wendy.
Then I had been debating whether or not to go to the work Christmas party on Friday, I decided to stay and I'm glad I did. I had some time after work, and before the party so I helped them finish set up. It was nice to meet the spouses and children of those I work with, as well as catch up with some friends. I happen to work with some incredible people.

Today, is my Grandma Dautel's birthday. Each moment with her these last few weeks has become much more meaningful since we know her days are limited (she probably won't live much more than two or three weeks). As I was sitting at her house today, just looking at her enjoy the little pleasures in life (her birthday cake, listening to music and her family). I realized that you never regret the time you spend with family and friends. I want to make every moment I live as meaningful as possible.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! I LOVE YOU!

My dad's family at my Grandpa Dautel's funeral in October. My grandma is in the middle.

G is for Gratitude

Since this week is Thanksgiving, I feel that it is only appropriate to be grateful. Not just for the big things, but for the little things too.

I'm grateful for:
  • For being able to listen to someone who needs to talk, (and for someone listening when I need to talk)
  • For phonecalls from your friend when you are having a bad day (even when they don't know you are having a bad day)
  • When Olivia says my name
  • When a song comes on the radio that you haven't heard for awhile
  • My friends on missions
  • My young women

This list is endless. But I won't list them all. Thank you family and friends. I love you all!

New York

A few weeks ago I had the honor of going to New York City with some amazing people. No words, or blog post could do the trip justice. Not only did I get to spend time in one of the coolest cities in the United States, I got to spend time with three of my most favorite people in this world; John, Donna and Alexis, my second family.
We stayed right in the middle of Times Square and had the BEST view from our room. We went to the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, World Trade Center Site, Serendipity, Del Fresco, and many other places.
We saw "Memphis" on broadway and it was incredible. If you haven't heard of it, I recommend you look it up. I downloaded the music and have been listening to it ever since. We also drove up into Connecticut and walked around at Yale.
I want to publicly thank John and Donna for taking me to New York and for all of the many other things they have done for me (I can't list them all because there are too many). And I most of all want to thank them for being my friends. I Love you.
Central Park. They are the best!

There are not words for how much I love Donna and John

It was windy on the top of the Empire State Building

I LOVE NEW YORK ... and I'm pretty sure that's an understatement! I can't wait to go back!

Recently...

So I have slacked off on blogging. So I'll do a quick update. (And for those of you who have done profiles for me I have not forgotten about you and I'll continue to do that again soon, my friends have much more intersting lives than I do)

Anyways, I can tel lthat summer is officially overwith because it's starting to get cold and the leaves are changing. I need to go for a drive up in the canyon. I love looking at the leaves in the fall. I wish Janelle was here because we would always go for drives up the canyon while jamming to Trevor Hall. Miss that girl :)

I've recently discoverd my deep love for watching movies (I dont' know why it took me so long to realize this) But I LOVE watching movies and have been watching between 2 and 3 every week. Maybe I'll start making a favorites movie list.

and the biggest news of all: I'm going to New York for the first time on Wednesday. So I'll be sure to blog (with pictures) immediately after the most amazing trip ever. Until then, Have a great week!

Love,
Steph

What is your favorite color and why? Purple. Honestly, I'm not sure why. It just happened one day. I'm crazy about it.

What is your favorite thing about California? The variety. Mountains, valleys, hills, oceans, lakes, forests, deserts, cities and rural farm towns. There's just so much to see whitin just a few hours.

Tell me about your job: I work for Allegiance Software in Fargo, ND. We work with (primarily) non-profit broadcasting organizations and provide software for them to maintain their donor databases. I do customer support and training. It rocks.

How did you and I meet? We met working at BYUB

How long ago did we meet? Um..it's got to have been awhile now. When did you start? I'm thinking it's been 2 maybe 2 1/2 years.

What is your favorite BYUB memory? Oh, man. I've got lots of them. Right now I'm really remembering the day I was trying to empty the shredder and ended up spilling the shreddings EVERYWHERE.

What is your favorite food? I'm kind of a mood eater. But I always like Diet Mountain Dew and Dark Chocolate M&Ms.

What is your favorite thing to bake? Cookies. Any kind. Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Sugar... you name it, I like to bake it.

Tell me about your dogs: Rubio is a 3 year old bind Shih Tzu who loves everything and everyone. He doesn't bark. Romulus is a 1 year old Mini Schnauzer who thinks everything is about him. He's hilarious and loving and I'm glad he didn't die of Parvo a year ago.

Although the first year I was married, Geoff and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to CA- we took off at 3am and drove for 12 hours to surprise my parents. And our bosses when they got to work and saw that we had called in. I guess you could also consider moving to Fargo a bit random.

What is something most people don't know about you? Um. I really want to major in Vocal Performance in college. I auditioned for the program twice and didn't get in-twice. If you could give me one piece of advice what would it be? 1) Don't let your head get in the way of life 2) Don't ever give up a chance to laug. 3) Hold to the rod :)

So technically Amanda and I first met about 3 years ago when I first started working at BYUB. However last summer we became best friends and have pretty much been inseparable since. DALLAS BECK
We used to go to Del Taco every Tuesday. This picture was taken 3 or 4 years ago
1. How did you and I meet? We met through mutual friends! My roommate Paul, who I didn't know very well, introduced me to his friends Chelsea, Kaela and Janelle, who were Stephanie's roommates, also who she didn't know very well at the time.. I think. Anyways, wa all became instant best friends.

2. How many siblings in your family? I have six siblings! Three boys and three girls

3. What is your favorite color and why? My favorite color is green on most days, but others blue, i think. I think the earth has a great color combo when it's very green outside and a blue blue sky! I like nature, I suppose

4. What is your favorite memory of working at BYU Broadcasting? Walking into the room and seeing Blaine's smiling face, ha ha. If I saw that, I knew it was going to be a great day of work haha.

5. If you could do anything for a living (regardless of money) what would it be? I think I would be a missionary for a living ha. Institute professor would be close.

6. What are your hobbies? ULTIMAAATE frisbee! love it like crazy. Reading books I'm interested in, ha, racquetball, football (watching and/or playing), playing baseball, jet skiing, watching movies, I really like eating, lifting, seeing friends and family.

7. What is your favorite movie? not even a clue. I like so many, but to give an idea, I really like the Lord of the Rings series, Spiderman, and actually I just realized that The Dark Knight is probably the favorite. I just love the joker.

8. What is your favorite vacation spot? Lake Eufala in Oklahoma. It's quiet and the water is warm. We usually go there and stay on a houseboat for about a week. Very relaxing.

9. What is your favorite memory with me? Drawing you a Dragonball Z picture, ha ha. That and our prank war-- especially stealing their Christmas tree and leaving one decoration--the Grinch, ha ha

10. What is the most random thing you have done? Not sure about this one. I once randomly asked out a girl who I had never talked to or heard about before, ha ha

11. What is your favorite sport and why? To play: Not even a question--Ultimate Frisbee. I get a glimpse of what the Celestial Kingdom is like whenever I play. I love making good throws to people downfield. I love catching it on the run. To watch: by far, football. I love the strategy, skill, technique of it all.

12. What do you want to be doing 10 years from now? Ten years from now, I'd like ot have finised grad school and be full-time in a job with a family somewhere in the country, probably east. I like the trees out east. I'd like to be living just outside of a big city with big skyscrapers where I'd like to be working, but not too big where traffic makes it take forever to get back to the family. I'd like to be a good father and husband. I'd like to travel every so often.

Dallas and I first became friends our freshman year of college. And have stayed in touch ever since. We even got to work together. I always have so much fun hanging out with Big D :) And I'm grateful that you are a honest, trustworthy friend that I can count on. I'm seriously so lucky to have such a good friend like you Dallas. Thanks for everything.

Summer 2010

Alright so a lot has happened in the month or so. I saw the beautiful Alaska. I got to go on a cruise with my fam. It was amazing. I love spending time with them and Alaska and Canada are gorgeous.

I have officially finished my classes and internship! Wow I cannont believe I am now officially officially DONE with my undergrad degree. I can't believe how fast the time flies.

I'm staying busy at work but I still love my job.

My great grandma passed away last week. She was 93 and lived a good life.

I also at this time want my friend Catherine to know how much I love her and that my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family, especially her sister at this time.

Please at this time also keep my grandpa in your prayers.

Thank you all for being my friend. You have no idea how much it really means to me.

here are a few of hundreds of pictures from Alaska!

My Life Rocks!

Well it's that time again... yes the time of the month when I need to blog again. Sorry I haven't been very good at it lately. For some reason that thing called life is keeping me busy. If you have any ideas how to make it slow down... let me know.

The biggest event of the last few weeks is my best friend Chelsea is now married! WOW! I'm so happy for her and Bryan. I had the privilege of staying with her and her fam for her wedding. (She got married in Nauvoo) I have posted some pictures, but stay tuned because I'll put up some more later. (Also sorry these are not in a very good order... but oh well).

While in Kansas I also got to see Janelle's mom and dad. I enjoy spending time with them.

Next one of my good friends Ashley came up from Arizona and we got to hang out. We went to the canyon for a few minutes. It was so fun. I think this is the first time I've seen her since she's been married :) Thanks Ash for being such a great friend!

We are going on a Cruise in a week, so chances are that I won't be back into the blogging world until after the cruise... which means I probably won't be back until after finals are overwith in June, But I'd like to give a shoutout to my Grandma Jo and my best friend Donna Horn, who's birthday's are on June 4. :) Happy Birthday!

April Showers, Bring May Weddings

So there have been a few significant things that have happened lately but I haven't had time to blog about them...

1. My uncle Doug took me skiing for the first time a few weeks. It was so fun. I'm obsessed... I want to go all the time now so I can get better... I really had a great time. (Unfortunately all the pictures of this are on Doug's phone)

2. I had a birthday and throughout the week I got to celebrate my birthday with my favorite people (except Janelle... unfortunately she couldn't be there).

Monday, I got to go to dinner with my family (including John and Donna) at Market Street. It was so fun and then on Friday Chelsea and I went to Red Robin, went shopping and topped the night off by watching the Blind Side. I'm so lucky to have such great friends and family.

3. I'm done with my undergraduate classes at BYU... weird I know.
4. TSD did their final presentation for our capstone class. I'm going to miss us. We are so great.

This is us just before our pressentation. TSD FOR LIFE!

Me with my PR Girls: Brittany, Whitney, Jessi and Kresha... I'm gonna miss these girls!

The BYUB Membership Crew!

4. Chelsea's Shower is tonight! Yay.... Wedding is in like 3 weeks... i'm so excited (like the title of my blog post) ;)

5. Lastly, I have one final left.... Woo Hoo... can't wait until that is overwith :)
